Most common error when accessing the forum is relating to your browsers "cookies".
Cookies is data that a website will on your device to assist with things like logins.
Some browsers and proxy servers (e.g. Google and Duck Duck Go) have predefined settings that stop a website from leaving cookies on your device.
A note from the developer on how to overcome these errors.
A common "cookies" error in SMF 2.1.4, often resulting in login issues or session verification failures, stems from browser settings that prevent cookie acceptance. To address this, ensure your browser is configured to allow cookies, specifically for the SMF forum domain, and clear any existing cookies and cache related to the site.
Browser Cookie Settings:
Check your browser's privacy settings to confirm that cookies are enabled. For example, in Chrome, navigate to "Settings" > "Cookies and site data" and ensure that "Allow sites to save and read cookie data (recommended)" is toggled on
Domain Specificity:
If you're experiencing issues with a specific SMF forum domain, you may need to configure cookie permissions for that domain individually within your browser settings.
Clear Cookies and Cache:
Deleting the site's cookies and cache can resolve temporary issues related to stale or corrupted cookies.
Firewall/Anti-Virus:
In rare cases, a firewall or anti-virus program might be blocking cookies. Check their settings to ensure they're not interfering with the SMF forum's cookie usage.
Session Verification:
If you encounter a "Session verification failed" error, logging out and back in can sometimes resolve session-related cookie problems.
Browser Compatibility:
SMF 2.1.4 is generally compatible with modern browsers. If you're experiencing problems, try using a different browser to rule out browser-specific issues.
Privacy Extensions:
Some browser extensions that enhance privacy might interfere with cookie functionality. Temporarily disable these extensions and test the forum to see if they are the cause.
Proxy Servers:
If you're using a proxy server, ensure it's configured correctly to handle cookies. Some proxy servers might block or modify cookies.
